China accused of leaking space secrets
of the country
China has accused foreign spy agencies of trying to steal the secrets of its space program. There is concern that this will intensify the competition in space and create a new battle front. The Ministry of Internal Security also said that ensuring space security has become an important strategy for China’s future survival and development.
“In recent years, some Western countries have formed a ‘space army’ and developed space offensive capabilities. They consider China as a major competitor in the space sector. Foreign spy agencies are conducting remote surveillance against China through high-precision satellites. In this way, they are trying to observe and steal China’s secrets from space,” China accused, without naming any countries.
It also observes that the competition for resources is “extremely intense”. China’s goal is to land the first astronaut on the moon by 2030. There are plans to build a ‘base station’ at the south pole of the moon in 2035 and a space station orbiting the moon by 2045.
