Apps that can be used instead if Telegram is banned in India

With the arrest of Telegram’s chief in France, an investigation into some of the alleged illegal activities taking place through the app in India has also been launched. The Indian Crime Coordination Center (14C) will oversee the investigation.
Allegations are that Telegram is a hub for many scams and betting. The Home Department and the IT Ministry are cooperating with the investigation. With this, the fear that the Indian operation of Telegram will be banned is strong.

Experts also say that if any criminal activity comes to light, the app will be banned. Three apps to consider for those wondering where to turn if Telegram gets banned:

∙If you want uncompromising privacy then look no further, Signal app is the best. With end-to-end encryption, open-source codebase, etc., this app ensures privacy in messaging.
Disappearing messages, secure voice and video calls are also available. Due to the importance of strict security, Signal does not have many attractive features seen in WhatsApp and others. It does not even allow two messages to be forwarded simultaneously. But it is generally considered to be the best in terms of security.

∙ Microsoft Teams: Microsoft has brought many features around Teams which can be used on PC as well. With the inclusion of Microsoft Teams Play Together, Microsoft 365 Suite, video conferencing, real-time collaboration, secure messaging, and more, this app offers a lot that other apps can’t. It is definitely worth a try for both commercial and educational purposes.

∙Whatsapp: It is not even right to say to those who use Telegram instead of WhatsApp, that they can try WhatsApp. The reason many people ditch WhatsApp is because it comes under the Meta platform.

WhatsApp Meta AI has also come along in the last few months. Privacy advocates say that although its icon can be turned off if desired, its operation is still running in the background, and Meta still does not provide an option to stop it. However, there is no shortage of WhatsApp’s popularity among common people. Telegram users can also try WhatsApp if they want.
